Upgrade Patch 2.5 Overview

This upgrade will only work on PCs that have a registered copy of Bird Tracker for Windows already installed. Registered users of Bird Tracker for Windows should download the patch to their PC and then double-click the BTupg25.exe file.  Follow the instructions on the set-up installation screens and be sure to install the patch to your current Bird Tracker application folder; this folder should come up by default during the set-up process.  When done, you are ready to continue maintaining your records. 

Version 2.5 includes all previous upgrade patches (Upgrade Patch 1 , Upgrade Patch 2a, Upgrade Patch 3, Upgrade Patch 4, Upgrade Patch 5a, Upgrade Patch 6 , Upgrade Patch 7, Upgrade Patch 8, Version 2.0, Upgrade Patch 2.1, Upgrade Patch 2.2, Upgrade Patch 2.3 and Upgrade Patch 2.4) plus provides improvements in the following areas:

• Mail Merge type documents created on the Documents Screen now allow entry of database fields and pictures into any part of the document.
• The Document Screen/Editor Screen is now integrated with MS Word. This function will only work if you have MS Word already installed on your PC.
• Expanded Mail-Merge documents to the Flock, Offspring and Breeding Screens for creating high quality reports. These documents are created from the Documents Screen and called up from the various screens through the list associated with the screen Print button.
• Added the ability to enter expected weights for each species from Day 1 to Adult on the Species Screen.
• Added a popup box to the Offspring Screen for entering hand feedings and weights.
• Added Banding and Fledging Dates to the Offspring Screen.
• Added 'Other Name' text box to the Species Screen.  You can place the scientific name here.
• Reduced the size of the Egg ID number on the Incubation Screen.  A two digit year will precede the sequential number.  Leading zeros are removed.
• Rearranged the Main Screen buttons into appropriate groupings.

This upgrade allows more versatility in creating reports through the Documents Screen.  After you install the upgrade, a "Samples" folder will exist within your application folder at C:\Program Files\Bird Tracker\Samples.  In this folder, we have included examples of drill down reports (i.e., print one record after the other without a page break) and reports with a drill down subreport (i.e., drill down on all associated breeding results linked to a breeding record). 

To work with these files:
1) Click the Import New button on the Documents Screen.
2) Open the Samples folder and select a listed file.
3) A popup screen will appear for associating a database. Select  "Breeding" or "Flock Members" as appropriate for the selected document.
4) The document will now display on the screen.
5) If the sample selected was a FlockDrillDownSample document, then after you close the document, click the Page Setup button on the Documents Screen, select Drill Down for Document Type, then click OK.

Follow-on updates to this patch correct the following problems:
Patch 2.501
- Invoice Screen balance would not update when a payment was added
- Feeding Sheet that is printed from the Expected Weight popup screen of the Species Screen would not necessarily print the days in the proper order
Patch 2.502
- Total Points on the Show Awards screen were not updating properly between records.
