Upgrade Patch 2a Overview
Upgrade Patch 2a contains all of the improvements described below for for Upgrade Patch 2 with the following minor changes
| Screens have all been slightly adjusted for the Windows XP style screens. Prior to these adjustments, the new taller XP title bars were causing objects on the screens to become forced partially off the screen. To take advantage of this change, select Window then Restore Screens from the menu at the top of the main screen. | |
| The Sub-Grids for Breeding Records and Invoices did not allow resizing of the columns. These columns can now be resized on the Grid View Screens. | |
| The Flock Record and Offspring Record screens have "GENETIC APPEARANCE (GENOTYPE)" as a title for the last text box. This has been corrected to read: "GENETIC MAKE-UP (GENOTYPE)". |
Upgrade patch 2 includes all of Upgrade patch 1 plus provides improvements in the following areas:
| You can now print out the contents of any Grid View Screen. This allows you to print a report containing only those fields you care to see. With the Grid View, you can query for specific records using the Search capability, then with the customize button, select the desired fields. If the fields (i.e., columns) are not arranged the way you like, then simply click on the column header, drag and drop to where you would like it to appear. You are now ready to print a report to your liking. | |
| A Species file for both Colored Canaries and Type Canaries has been added to the program. This has required two new screen views to be developed for adding mutations. | |
| A Species file has been added for Gouldian Finches and a new Screen has been developed for this species. | |
| A Species file has been added for Zebra Finches. | |
| Upgrade 2 now allows you to enter mutations onto the Species Screen that may share a name with another listed mutation. For example, prior to Upgrade 2, if you have "Pied" listed in the recessive autosomal section and then try to add "Dominant Pied" to the Dominant section, you would receive an error message stating that the name already exist in whole or in part since they both share the "Pied" term. Upgrade 2 will now allow you to enter "Pied" and "Dominant Pied", however, you cannot enter "Pied" into the autosomal recessive section then enter "Pied" into the Dominant section. This will still flag the error message. | |
| We have added more text boxes to the Species Screen to allow more mutation entries for a Species. Bird Tracker will now allow up to 13 autosomal mutation entries, 6 sex-linked mutation entries (with two allowing up to 4 multiple alleles), 5 co-dominant and 5 full dominant mutations, and 3 multiple allelic series each allowing up to 4 multiple alleles. | |
| Four of the sex-linked mutations can be designated as dominant mutations. This was necessary for adding Gouldian Finch mutations. | |
| The Add Genetic Trait dialog box has been updated to allow for this expansion in mutations. This includes a text box at the top of the screen to show the mutations selected and now only symbols for selected non-sex linked mutations are displayed. |

| Bird Tracker now includes a family tree listing that goes back as far as you have records and allows you to select the fields you wish to view for each ancestor, as well as, the bird being queried. |

The resulting report will look like this...
| We have also included a quick check of what the displayed bird may be carrying for mutations based upon a review of its ancestry. |

| We are adding more Species file and updating existing files with more mutations, more proper terminology and accepted genetic symbols. | |
| The Breeding Screen will now display the colors produced by the breeding pair. This is basically a compilation of the colors inputted to each Hatchling. If more than one color for a hatchling then separating with a comma followed by a space will cause the colors to be tallied within their respective group. |

We appreciate all the feedback we have received so far from our customers and are working diligently to get more Species files incorporated into the program. Let us know what you would like to see and we will add it.
