Upgrade Patch 6 Overview
This patch will only work on PCs that have a registered copy of Bird Tracker for Windows already installed. Registered users of Bird Tracker for Windows should download the patch to their PC and then double-click the BTupg6.exe file. Follow the instructions on the set-up installation screens and be sure to install the patch to your current Bird Tracker application folder; this folder should come up by default during the set-up process. When done, you are ready to continue maintaining your records.
To add a new species provided with Upgrade 6, go to the Species Screen, click the Open Defaults Selection Menu button, click the desired species on the dialog box, then click the OK button. You are now ready to use the new species.
Upgrade patch 6 includes all previous upgrade patches (Upgrade Patch 1 , Upgrade Patch 2a, Upgrade Patch 3, Upgrade Patch 4 and Upgrade Patch 5a) plus provides improvements in the following areas:
| A Java Finch genetics file has been added to the program. |
| If you open breed, Bird Tracker now makes it easy to enter and track the progress of a nest box. Simply click the Open Breed button to add a nest box with unknown biological parent. Both parents will be labeled "<Undesignated>" and excluded from other functions in the program. |
| If some of your birds foster the eggs of others then simply click the box under the Foster column on the Breeding Screen. |
| When a fostered bird is forwarded to the offspring records you will be queried for the biological parents by the screen shown below. Entering information onto this screen will set up a breeding record in the archive section of the program with the biological parents and thus provide a true pedigree for the bird. |
| Adding the pedigree information for a recently purchased bird has been made simpler. From the Flock Records screen, click the Add Pedigree button to open the Add Pedigree screen. Enter the parents and grandparents for the recently purchased bird. |
| A Products and Services screen has been added to allow tracking of any product and service you may sell in your business. |
| The Product and Services database has been added to the call up screen available from the Invoice screen when adding items of sale. We have changed this screen so that all items are selected at one time then forwarded to the Invoice Screen. Items selected for forwarding will be listed in the box at the bottom of the screen. |
| The quantity of products can be automatically adjusted when saving an invoice record by selecting the appropriate option on the Options screen. This function looks up the Item ID in the database and will decrease the quantity of the product by the number sold. Invoice edits and deletions are not a problem: the program knows what you started with and will adjust your products database up or down for the differences. |
| The Calendar Screen has been modified to also track daily and weekly recurring routines. A second column on the Day (Entry) display will show all routines for the selected day. |
| The appointment column now allows you to drag an appointment box down for the desired period of time. The box cannot go past another appointment. |
| When you print out a day week or month, you can select options for the print layout. |
| The Flock Record Screen has been expanded to include unlimited entries of examinations. Enter a detailed examination or just weight and appearance on a recurring interval. |
| A Show Quality entry text box has been added to the Flock Records screen as well as a button to display all show awards for the displayed bird. |
| A Mailing Label option has been added to the Contacts Screen. Clicking the Label button for either the person or business address will open the screen shown below. Select where on the label sheet you would like the label printed, then print it. |
| An "X" button has been added to all the various Grid Views that have a Select column. Clicking the "X" button will display only selected rows. |
