Upgrade Patch 7 Overview

This patch will only work on PCs that have a registered copy of Bird Tracker for Windows already installed. Registered users of Bird Tracker for Windows should download the patch to their PC and then double-click the BTupg7.exe file.  Follow the instructions on the set-up installation screens and be sure to install the patch to your current Bird Tracker application folder; this folder should come up by default during the set-up process.  When done, you are ready to continue maintaining your records.

To add a new species provided with Upgrade 7, go to the Species Screen, click the Open Defaults Selection Menu button, click the desired species on the dialog box, then click the OK button.  You are now ready to use the new species.

Upgrade patch 7 includes all previous upgrade patches (Upgrade Patch 1 , Upgrade Patch 2a, Upgrade Patch 3, Upgrade Patch 4, Upgrade Patch 5a and Upgrade Patch 6) plus provides improvements in the following areas:

bulletA Project creation screen has been added to the program.  Simply name the project and specify the fields of information you wish to gather.

bulletThen, on the Project Results screen, you can assign a bird to the project for study and add as many results as desired.

bulletNow when you click the Breeding Record screen printout, you will be asked if you wish to display ancestry.  A report showing Parents, Grandparents and Great Grandparents has been added.
bulletNow when you click the Family Tree printout, you will be asked if you wish to display color.  A new Family Tree printout has been added that will display color for each bird in the ancestry.
bulletSeveral more items have been added to the Options screen.

Define Color - You can specify if the color that appears on the new Family Tree and new Breeding screen report is the bird's genotype or phenotype.

WYSIWYG - We have modified the Editor screen (previously called Genetics Editor screen) so that it will query your printer and establish a display on your screen that should look the same as it will print.  Should this printer query cause problems, then select this option to disable it.

Disable 'Do Not Sell' flag - In an attempt to prevent you from selling a Flock Member bird that you do not wish to sell when it comes time to thin the flock, we have added a flag notification to the upper right corner of the Flock Members screen.  This flag is set by a check box on the second tab of the screen.  Should you not wish to see this flag then click this box to disable it.

Specify Document Titles - Upgrade 7 has added a Document creator to the program that works like an internal mail merge.  Four of the Documents are user specified.  For these four documents, you can specify the caption to appear on their selection buttons that appear on the Documents Screen, Invoice Screen and Contacts Screen.

bulletThe Flock Members screen has been updated with several changes.

Two new fields have been added to the Flock Members screen; a Lost Date field and a Sell field.

A button has been added on both the Flock and Flock Members Archive screen to view the current bird on the Breeding Assistant screen.

bulletThe Editor screen has been improved with a WYSIWYG presentation, some additional formatting button and a new document function.
bulletA document generating screen has been added to the program for creating customized documents that perform a mail merge function.  These documents can be called-up from the Contacts or Invoice screen.  Simply create and import a header and body Rich Text Format (*.rtf) file onto the screen. The program will generate the record information and present it between the header and footer.

bulletTo call-up a document from either the Contacts or Invoice screen click the Print Document button.  This will open a selection display with a button for each document option.

bulletA page setup screen is provided on the Documents screen to allow you to align and change the font of the program generated information.
